General

No god-modding. You may only control what your character does.

Be respectful. OOC homophobia, sexism, racism, religious intolerance, all other forms of bigotry, and general rudeness/harassment will not be tolerated AT ALL.

IC =/= OOC Someone's character being horrible to your character is not a reflection of the mun's attitude towards you.

IC actions = IC consequences I've asked people, especially those with powerful characters, to list ways they can be defeated/escaped, but use common sense. If you try to send Thorin into a fight against Darth Vader, Thorin isn't going to stand much of a chance.

Anything with graphic violence or sex should take place behind a cut with proper warnings.

Do not try to police whether another mun's character is IC or OOC. Characterization should be consistent, when playing, but character interpretation varies greatly and can be very personal. It is the right of the mun to decide who their muse is and isn't.

Characters, Game Play

The game is accepting all types, species, and ages of characters. Just make sure your character has a way to communicate freely with others. Canon characters, AU characters, and OCs are all welcome.

Multiple versions of characters are permitted, so long as the characters are distinct enough to not be confusing. For example, both movie!Beetlejuice and cartoon!Beetlejuice can be played by different people. Canon!Freddy Krueger can be played in addition to an AU!Freddy, so long as they are clearly different. (An AU where he meets Alice before Nancy, for example, would not be clear enough in day to day game play.)

Each player is only allowed to play one version of any given character.

Each player may have up to six characters.

No thread-jacking, without getting permission first from players all ready in the thread.

No closed posts. Anything posted to the comm should be reasonably accessible to everyone. Anything you want to have happen behind closed doors should be taken to your personal journals.

Canon puncture is inevitable. The setting is a library full of books, music, and movies and your character's life story is in one of them. In fact, that's probably how they ended up here. If your character exists as a fictional character in someone's universe, they will recognize who you are. Superheroes beware!

Swearing is permitted in the game, but unless your character canonically has a huge potty mouth, try not to go overboard.

For now, there are no activity checks. You should try to be reasonably active and avoid thread-dropping, since that inconveniences other players. Still, we all have real lives and sometimes they have to take precedence.

If you are going to be completely gone from the game for more than two weeks, please post a hiatus to the ooc comm. If you find yourself on hiatus a lot (three or four in a six month period) or on one that lasts longer than two months, please drop. Don't sit on characters without playing them. (Mods will not drop characters, but will contact muns through pm, if very long or very frequent periods of inactivity are noted.)

Different players are more comfortable with different formats, so whether a player uses prose or action format is up to their discretion.

PBs can be either drawn or photos. If you're playing the movie version of a character, though, it will be less confusing, if you use icons of the actor known for playing the character.

Applications are always open.

You may reserve a character for up to three weeks, before applying. After that, the character is up for grabs. You may not reserve the same character twice in a rolling four month period.

One day in real life equals one game day.

Player generated plots are very welcome, including ones involving the Splinter Scholars. In fact, feel free to have your character become a Splinter Scholar! There will be mod plots, every so often, which will be announced, but player based world building is encouraged. Keep an eye on the OOC comm.

The Library and even the realm itself are very interested in keeping the Readers alive. The mods also don't want a player to have to quit the game, just because their character gets written into a corner. So, if your character dies, the Library will restore them from the book or recording telling their story. However, players should not be comfortable having their characters die all the time. So, three deaths in a rolling year will result in your character losing all CR and rebooting from scratch.
